Hatching Technique (Assignment ONE)

 My First assignment for Fashion illustration was based on Hatching technique, which is based on the method of doing strokes of fine lines either with a ball pen or ink pen. This technique require both time and patience but with the right technique and work, this can result to a fine work. 

At first, it was required for this assignment to look for a fashion editorial, in order to carry on for this project. 

 

Here is the reference picture I took. The reason for this specific choice is because i was very into the pleats of the dresses. Though it might be very difficult with the details and play with shadow and light, I wanted to somehow challenge myself. 

At first, a trial was required, where I had to draw 30% of the picture and proceed with the Hatching technique. Within a few days of practicing I was able to ease myself with the technique and work my way though the task given. 

The above pictures shows the progress of the work i was assigned. Once I got used to the technique i eventually proceeded with  the final work which was fairly a fast process. 

Within a week I was able to complete my first assignment, it was very straightforward, quick and easy.
